Police: Angry woman kills ex-boyfriend's father with baseball-sized rock
Gary Evans was sitting on the sofa inside his Oklahoma City apartment on Saturday when someone started throwing rocks through the window.
One of the rocks, as big as a baseball, hit him.
The 61-year-old Evans died later at the hospital.
“It hit him in the chest,” neighbor Gene Dorman told News 9 in Oklahoma City. "I think he just got out of the hospital, too."
Police arrested 32-year-old Roselina Elizabeth Starr and booked her on a first-degree murder complaint, according to News OK.
Starr is the ex-girlfriend of the victim's son.
She allegedly had been at the apartments three days before, when police responded to a report that someone was throwing rocks at an apartment window in the Greystone Apartments complex in southwest Oklahoma City, local media reported.
Police returned on Saturday to check out a report of a domestic disturbance. According to the police report, Evans' son had recently broken up with Starr after a seven-year relationship.
She allegedly threw rocks at her ex, hitting him in the head. When he went into the apartment, she allegedly kept throwing rocks through a window.
She ran off, yelling, "I don't care if ya'll die," according to the probable cause affidavit.
“When she threw that rock, it went through the glass and hit the father, Gary,” Dorman told News 9. “The son ended up with staples in his head and went to the hospital."
Evans was alert when EMTs arrived and began giving him breathing treatments.
“He was transported to an area hospital, where sadly this resulted in him dying," Msgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department said at a press conference.
Several witnesses later identified Starr as the rock-thrower and she was arrested. Oklahoma County Jail records show she was booked at 12:16 a.m. Sunday and was being held without bond on Monday.
