A California teacher stripped down and chased elementary school students on a school playground, according to media reports.

The incident occurred at Carthay Center Elementary School in Los Angeles. The teacher chased second- and fifth-graders.

Parents were outraged by the incident, the end of which was filmed by a nearby construction worker.

“All of the kids saw his private parts,” one parent told CBS Los Angeles. “Very embarrassing, very upset.”

The footage from the construction worker appears to show a shirtless male teacher stepping into a pair of athletic pants. His lower half is blurred.

It was posted by CBSLA.

Parents were notified of the incident in a letter sent by the school.

The letter read, in part, “An individual began behaving in an unusual way, prompting us to contact law enforcement. As a safety precaution, our school went on a brief lock-down while officers responded and took the individual into custody.”

Mental health counselors were available to students following the incident, CBSLA reported.

“He was supposed to be helping them learn P.E., run around and have fun,” a parent told CBSLA. “But he undressed and started chasing the kids while he was naked, and then the kids ducked and dodged, ran into some of the classrooms and got safe haven that way.”
