Missouri students try bribing their way into a snow day with candy
How much did kids in Missouri want a snow day last week?
They tried bribing two school superintendents with candy.
How’s that for sweetening the deal.
Someone left Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups at Hillsboro superintendent Aaron Cornman’s front door Thursday night. A note attached read, “you know what to do.”
Cornman tweeted a photo of it.
“The first round of ‘Please Call School Off Tomorrow’ candy has arrived,” he tweeted. “Students in my neighborhood really want a Snow Day!!! They remembered my favorite!”

Last year, the kids tried to bribe him into calling a snow day with Hershey bars.
“This is the second time over the past year the mysterious candy has appeared,” he told KTVI in St. Louis.
“They never ring the doorbell, never knock, it's just placed on the front porch for me to see when I walk out to check the weather. Local Girl Scouts have offered to bring by my favorite cookies as well.”
Cornman teased students on Twitter where he posted a video with a “Frozen” theme telling them to stop asking for a snow day.

Alas, the bribe was a bust.
“Twitterverse..... Hillsboro WILL BE in session today,” Cornman tweeted at 2:25 a.m. Friday. “It's another great day for the Hillsboro Hawks to soar to new educational heights.
“It's cold outside, roads are clear, but the buses and buildings will be warm - see ya there.”

Social media gave the kids an A for effort, er, aspiration.
Cornman wasn’t the only school official to find a bribe on his porch. In neighboring Festus, superintendent Link Luttrell also received a gift of candy Thursday night.
“Don’t be a nerd #callitofflink,” read the note with all the urgency of a ransom note.

Luttrell took in good humor that his students left him a box of candy called Nerds.
Or, did he?
His students didn’t get a snow day, either.
