It will soon be easier to get from downtown KCK, KU Med to the streetcar. See how
Wyandotte County residents may find it a little easier to access the Kansas City Streetcar in the new year.
Officials are extending a Kansas City, Kansas, bus route so that it extends to the streetcar stop near the Country Club Plaza, according to a joint news release from the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and KCK and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.
The route, 107, currently begins at 7th Street and Minnesota Avenue in downtown KCK and travels east into Kansas City.
Now, starting Jan. 5, the route will take travelers from 43rd Street and State Line Road, to eastbound on 43rd, down to Roanoke Parkway and through the Plaza before reaching the streetcar stop near 47th and Brookside.
Kansas City in October completed a long-awaited streetcar extension which now allows residents and visitors to make their way between the River Market and UMKC. The line formerly ran between the Rivermarket and Union Station.
“By improving transit options and fostering greater accessibility, we are strengthening our community’s economic vitality and social cohesion,” Desiray Bush, the Unified Government’s transit director, said in the release.
