Wyandotte county voters will have the chance to question politicians face to face
With six weeks remaining until the election that will determine an array of local political races — including the next mayor/CEO of Wyandotte County’s government — three organizations are teaming up to host a candidate forum that varies from the traditional format.
Wyandotte County voters will have an opportunity to bring their questions directly to candidates running in the November election through a one-on-one style forum hosted by the Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR), the League of Women Voters of Johnson County and the Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Political candidates will be stationed in a room in the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library’s South Branch on the evening of Oct. 15 to field questions not from a single moderator, but anyone who stops by to meet them.
The event is free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. at the south branch location, 3104 Stronge Ave. Program hosts will offer Spanish interpretation as needed. Candidates in the following political races have been invited to attend, according to AIRR.
- Unified Government mayor/CEO;
- Unified Government District 2 at-large commissioner;
- Unified Government District 1, District 5 and District 8 commissioner;
- Board of Public Utilities at-large Position 1, at-large Position 2 and District 2;
