Another key road closed in KC’s Northland for ‘emergency repairs.’ What to know
A portion of U.S. Route 69 that runs through Platte County shut down Thursday for emergency repairs, marking the start of a month-long closure, officials said.
Both the southbound and northbound lanes of the highway, also known as Northwest Vivion Road, are expected to remain closed at the intersection of Frontier Street just south of Northmoore through March 25 due to “emergency pavement repair,” the Missouri Department of Transportation said in a news release. The closure will stretch between the Silver Eagle Auto Mall and Premier Motors KC, totalling about 0.1 miles.
“This closure is for pavement and shoulder repair,” a spokesperson for MoDOT said in an email. “There is a sizeable pothole that has developed in the project area. A full closure will allow us to make the needed repairs.”
Eastbound and westbound US-69 traffic will follow a signed detour.
Nearby, northbound Interstate 29 is also closed in the area until mid-May, along with both northbound ramps.
The department reminds motorists to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones as not all work zones look alike and can range from long-term construction areas to temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
