The Twitterverse snarks all over Donald Trump’s convention
We live in an age where the only barrier to delivering your insults to the world is a weak Wi-Fi connection.
In person and, to a lesser degree in print, there’s a premium in politeness. Online, well, I’ve got your civil discourse right here, buddy.
Mix in politics, a presidential election between two objectively loathed candidates (Hillary Clinton rates at 56 percent unfavorable, Donald Trump registers at 59 percent negative), and a polarized America, and you get a certain breed of Twitter creativity.
Naturally, the world made sport with Melania Trump’s speech and its striking similarities to one given eight years earlier by Michelle Obama. Here’s a fun look.
Below is a sample of the flotsam and jetsam of Republican National Convention week chatter. With the GOP show on, it’s the left that seems to have the strongest reaction. The Republican peanut gallery will surely get its revenge when Democrats put on their show next week in Philadelphia.
