Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas — one of the few sitting senators attending this week’s Republican National Convention — hammered Democrats and Hillary Clinton in a speech Monday at the gathering.

“Hillary Clinton and the Democrats have seized our government,” Roberts said. “They have taxed us. They have regulated us. They have destroyed our health care system. They have sunk our economy.”

Roberts mentioned presumptive nominee Donald Trump in the last part of his remarks. “Let’s make America safe again,” he said, using Monday’s theme to conclude his speech.
