Swag bags greet RNC delegates, with transparency as security

It’s an old tradition — with a sad modern twist.

Delegates to the Republican convention are picking up traditional “swag” bags, packed with souvenirs, maps, lotions — everything a delegate needs to survive a week at the convention.

But the swag bags are different this year. They’re made of clear plastic, so security officials can see what’s inside. “Pretty clever,” one delegate said as she picked up her stuff.
