Father of Kansas lieutenant governor dies

James Colyer, the father of Kansas Lieutenant Gov. Jeff Colyer, has died, the governor’s office has announced.

James Colyer, a dentist, was 89 years old.

“My father was a true member of the ‘Greatest Generation’ who gave so much to his family and country,” Jeff Colyer said in a statement.

Funeral plans are pending.
