Mike Huckabee to stump for Jay Ashcroft
The endorser of choice for Missouri Republicans?
That would appear to be Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor.
Huckabee came close to winning the 2008 Missouri Republican presidential primary, narrowly losing to eventual GOP nominee John McCain. Huckabee turned out to be a key player on Todd Akin’s behalf in a highly contentious 2012 GOP primary fight for the U.S. Senate. A Huckabee endorsement and TV ad proved pivotal in pushing Akin over the top.
Now, he’s being summoned one more time to the Show-Me State.
This time, Jay Ashcroft, a contender for secretary of state who’s in a competitive primary fight with Will Kraus of Lee’s Summit, is bringing in Huckabee for a Thursday event at the Ashcroft family farm in Willard, Mo.
A news release notes that Huckabee, Ashcroft and his father, former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, will also hold a press availability in advance of the event.
