The Buzz

Numbers, numbers, numbers, and what they tell us

Numbers can tell us a lot:

▪ 52: Number of days ago that the Iowa caucuses were held.

▪ 75: Number of days until the California primary. So...we’re not even to the halfway point when it comes to nomination voting.

▪ 1,237: Number of delegates that Donald Trump needs to secure the GOP nomination.

▪ 1,239: Number of delegates that the University of Virginia Center for Politics now forecasts for Trump.

▪ 100: A key number for Trump, the center says. If he’s short by that many or fewer and still leading in national polls, he won’t be denied the nomination. But if it’s more than that number, contested convention here we come.

▪ 68: Number of different anti-Trump commercials that have run across the country.

▪ 40,000: Number of times those ads have been shown.

▪ 43, 30, 19: The national poll numbers, current as of Thursday, for Trump, Ted Cruz and John Kasich respectively.

▪ 51, 42: The national poll numbers, current as of Thursday, for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, respectively.

▪ 49, 48: The national poll numbers for Sanders and Clinton, respectively, in a new Bloomberg poll out Thursday.

▪ 50, 39: The national poll numbers for Clinton and Trump, respectively, in a hypothetical November matchup.

▪ 55, 37: The national poll numbers for Sanders and Trump, respectively, in a hypothetical November matchup.

▪ 47, 45: The national poll numbers for Clinton and Cruz, respectively, in a hypothetical November matchup.
