NYT endorses Kevin Yoder bill on email privacy
Rep. Kevin Yoder has picked up some heavy-duty support for his bill making it harder for law enforcement to search through your old emails and computers files.
The New York Times.
In a editorial Saturday the Times said it supports Yoder’s legislation, which would require law enforcement to obtain a judge-issued warrant to look through email and documents more than six months old. Right now police can look through that stuff with a subpoena.
There are exceptions. Yoder has worked pretty hard on this measure for some time.
The vote in the House could come this week.
