Bernie Sanders draws the curious and the enthusiastic at Iowa event
Vermont independent and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders drew more than 1,000 people to a mid-day event at Iowa State University on Monday.
Those who came said they found his calls for social justice and the empowerment of ordinary voters over well-heeled business interests appealing.
Sanders is essentially tied in Iowa polls with former secretary of state Hillary Clinton. The outcome of the Feb. 1 caucuses in this state could well determine whether Clinton walks away with the nomination or has a drawn-out fight for the nod with Sanders.
