Nixon says Missouri response to Rams’ move will get a review this week
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon says a special committee studying ways to keep the St. Louis Rams football team in St. Louis will provide its recommendations this week.
Here’s his statement:
“St. Louis is an NFL city and I am committed to keeping it that way.
“I look forward to reviewing the recommendations from Dave Peacock and Bob Blitz later this week and working with the St. Louis community to put forward a plan that’s consistent with our principles of protecting taxpayers, creating jobs, and making significant use of private investment to clean up and revitalize underutilized areas.”
It isn’t precisely clear if the recommendations will be made public this week.
Monday, the Los Angeles Times said Rams owner Stan Kroenke is prepared to build a private stadium in that city.
That increases pressure on Nixon and other policy makers to propose an alternative in Missouri.
