A spokesman for Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts has dismissed any connection between the shocking tea party upset of Rep. Eric Cantor in Virginia and Milton Wolf’s tea party GOP challenge in the Sunflower state.
“Only in Milton Wolf’s twisted dreams is there any connection between VA7 and the Kansas Senate race,” Leroy Towns said in an email. “Senator Roberts’ race is different from VA7 in every way.”
Among the differences, Towns said:
“Pat Roberts does not face a respected economics professor, active in conservative politics who has run for office before.”

“Pat Roberts faces a discredited and deeply flawed candidate who has serious ethical and competency issues.”
“Pat Roberts’ record is more conservative than Cantor’s.”
On Wednesday, Wolf’s campaign used the upset to challenge Roberts to debates.
“Pat Roberts … has refused to debate his primary opponent Dr. Milton Wolf,” its statement says.
“That is a strategy that failed for Thad Cochran in Mississippi, and last night, in the biggest upset of this election cycle, that strategy failed for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.”
