A state lawmaker from St. Louis wants a legislative review of Gov. Jay Nixon’s response to the crisis in Ferguson to include a look at St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch.
The issue, said Democratic Rep. Karla May, is whether McCulloch “manipulated” the grand jury that opted not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown.
“Many St. Louis area residents believe – and there is at least some evidence to suggest – that Mr. McCulloch manipulated the grand jury process from the beginning...” May wrote in a letter to state Sen. Kurt Schaefer, chair of the committee examining Nixon’s actions.

“Such beliefs will persist, further eroding trust in the criminal justice system in the St. Louis area, until there is a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into Mr. McCulloch’s actions and whether he committed prosecutorial misconduct.”
May said the prosecutor should be required to testify.
Neither McCulloch or Schaefer returned phone calls from the Associated Press seeking comment.
