At 92, Bob Dole is still on the go.
In recent years, he’d visited his home state of Kansas numerous times.
On Tuesday, he and his wife, Elizabeth, are off to Italy where he’ll visit Rome and Florence — as well as a battlefield that changed his life 70 years ago.
The Doles will visit the site outside the small town of Castel D’Aiano where Dole suffered grave injuries that nearly killed him during a World War II battle.

“While in Castel D’Aiano, I will lay a wreath at the 10th Mountain Division Memorial to honor the memories of those who lost their lives defending freedom,” Dole said in a statement.
“I have often thought that what happened to me on April 14, 1945, may have been a blessing in disguise, since I have enjoyed so many opportunities during my lifetime.”
