Tax Foundation verdict on Missouri tax cuts: Thumbs sideways
has weighed in on Missouri’s coming tax cuts.
Its verdict? Meh.
“The bill is not the monumental shift either side claims it is,” the group said Wednesday. “Despite the fantastical claims of advocates, the modest reduction in tax rates comes at a glacial pace.”
Actually, some advocates said the slow pace of tax cuts was a reason to
supportthe measure — it means Missouri won’t face the kind of tax shock Kansas is dealing with, they said.

“Missouri’s tax code is overdue for serious inspection,” said Tax Foundation Economist
Scott Drenkard. “However, 2014’s tax package represents a missed opportunity to engage in real tax reform; the plan that passed was lackluster.”
