McCaskill: NCAA may not be protecting athletes from “exploitation”
is wading more deeply into the debate over college athletics and the NCAA.
Her office released a letter Tuesday addressed to
Mark Emmert, the head of the NCAA. In the letter, McCaskill and two other Democratic senators ask for a series of documents from the NCAA about its treatment of athletes.
“We are concerned that insufficient oversight exists to ensure the the NCAA and its member institutions are taking adequate steps to protect student-athletes from exploitation,” the letter says.
Sens.
Cory BookerJay Rockefellerof West Virginia also signed the letter.
A hearing is scheduled.
