A last-minute save prevented New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — he of “Bridgegate” fame — from being followed on Thursday at the dedication of the new Sept. 11 museum by a rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Yes, it’s a safe bet the media would have had a field day with that.

Instead, before the ceremony a museum spokeswoman announced that Idina Menzel, the performer scheduled to sing the song, was sick and would not perform, the AP reported.

In her place, Broadway singer LaChanze sang “Amazing Grace.”

Christie faced accusations this year that his staff intentionally clogged traffic near the George Washington Bridge to punish a political adversary.

The spokeswoman said the change had nothing to do with Christie or the song.
