It’s Election Day -- see you at the polls

Voters on the Missouri side of state line are headed to the polls today for a variety of city candidate elections, bond issues, and other subjects.

In Kansas City, voters will determine the fate of a $500 million water bond issue, a charge for hotel inspections, and three charter changes — including one pushing city elections back into the spring.

Voters are also considering school board elections, including a particularly bitter contest in the Hickman Mills district.

Turnout is described as typical. In Kansas City, roughly 12 percent of registered voters are likely to cast ballots.

Jackson County voters are casting ballots in city elections in Independence and more than a dozen other cities, school board elections, and others.

, the Republican director with the Jackson County Election Board, said there had been a few technical glitches at polling places, but nothing too disruptive.

Voters in Clay and Platte Counties are also casting ballots for a variety of municipal positions.
