KC group gears up to urge Clinton to run for the White House
A group of Kansas City Democrats is planning to join a national effort aimed at encouraging Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016.
The group — the KC affiliate of the Ready for Hillary PAC — is planning a kickoff event at 5:30 p.m. on April 11 at La Fonda El Taquito, 800 Southwest Blvd.
Among those involved in the group are former Mayor Kay Barnes, Missouri state Sen. Kiki Curls and KC city council members Melba Curls, Jan Marcason, Jermaine Reed and Scott Taylor.
Tickets are $20.16 (for 2016, get it?).
The KC event is one of several across the country being organized by The Ready for Hillary PAC (www.readyforhillary.com). The idea is to build a database and momentum to support a Clinton 2016 presidential run.
In the last half of 2013, the PAC raised more than $4 million.
