Bridges for free, sort of

The state of Missouri has a bridge to give you. Or two.

MoDOT said today it’s accepting proposals to obtain two large bridges connecting the Fairfax district in Kansas with Riverside, Mo. They’re called the Fairfax bridge and the Platte Purchase bridge.

The bridges are free, but the party obtaining them may have to pay part of the cost of moving them.

The structures have some history, apparently:

“These historic bridges are eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places as monumental examples of a steel truss, major river crossing, achieved by the distinctive cantilevered, camelback Warren through truss design.”
