Overall revenue down, but state tax revenue up in FY 2013, supporting Brownback claim
administration says the governor was referring to fiscal years when he spoke with Fox News about the impact of his tax cuts on state revenue.
The legislative research department says
overalltaxreceipts rose during the period (SGF refers to the state general fund):
“Total SGF receipts in FY 2013 were below total SGF receipts in FY 2012 by $71.6 million, or 1.1 percent. Tax receipts
onlyfor FY 2013 were above FY 2012 tax receipts by $172.7 million, or 2.8 percent.”
Remember, FY 2013 only includes six months of the Brownback tax cuts.
We’ll know the full story before Election Day, when receipts for a full year of the Brownback cuts will be known.
