Tea Party PAC endorses Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts in tough battle for re-election

A Tea Party political action committee on Tuesday endorsed embattled Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts for re-election.

The 78-year-old Republican incumbent is fighting to save his Senate seat in a tight race with independent candidate Greg Orman. The outcome of the race could help determine whether the GOP seizes control of the U.S. Senate in November.

“There is just too much at stake not to support Pat Roberts,” said Jenny Beth Martin, chairman of the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund PAC. “We reached out to our people in Kansas, and they overwhelmingly supported this endorsement. They know this race is too important to sit out.”

Roberts, who is seeking his fourth term in the Senate, also has received the endorsement of the Tea Party Express after winning a hard-fought primary against Tea Party challenger Milton Wolf.

Wolf, however, has not endorsed Roberts.
