Is Jay Nixon considering a presidential bid?
Asked point-blank on Thursday if he would run for the White House, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon refused to say either “yes” or “no.”
His answer: He’s focused on getting accomplished what he can before his term ends in 2017.
Nixon, re-elected in 2012, is barred by law from seeking a third term as governor.
The AP reported that Nixon also said he was pleased that the question wasn’t greeted with laughter. But again, he didn’t say “yes” or “no.”
Later Thursday, Oren Shur, Nixon’s former campaign manager, said the governor would support Hillary Clinton if she runs.
But if the former first lady doesn’t? Then, just maybe, it could be “Iowa, Here I Come.”
