Medicaid expansion in Missouri remains longest of long shots
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is aiming to expand Medicaid as the 2014 session begins.
But the issue doesn’t even make House Speaker Tim Jones’ list of more than a dozen priorities.
Bottom line: The prospects of expanding the health care program for the poor under Obamacare are slim at best,
“The governor's really on the wrong side of history continuing to beat the dead horse of Obamacare and Medicaid expansion in our state,” said Jones, a Republican.
Exactly half the 50 states have expanded Medicare and are eligible for bonus federal payments this year. But the dollars don’t appear to be swaying Republicans.
