U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the upstart Democratic presidential candidate who has taken the party by storm in recent weeks, will speak to the annual convention of the National Council of La Raza Monday morning in Kansas City.
Sanders, elected from Vermont as an independent, is running for president as a Democrat. He will speak to a town hall forum at 10:15 a.m. Monday, said Janet Murguia, La Raza’s president and CEO.
Also speaking to the convention Monday will be Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.
All three speeches are closed to the general public.
