A Kansas-based staffer for Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp has been arrested and charged with 17 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
The AP reported that Matthew P. Pennell was being held on $75,000 bond.
KWCH-TV reported that Pennell was arrested Thursday following an investigation by Dodge City Police and the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
Pennell initially was placed on unpaid leave. On Monday, Mark Kelly, the office’s chief of staff, said in a statement that Pennell had been fired.
