Introducing article gifting: KC Star subscribers can share stories with friends & family
We know you love keeping up with the news, and chances are you’d like to share articles easily with family and friends. That’s why we are introducing a brand new way for our valued subscribers to gift to others.
Starting today, Kansas City Star subscribers can share 10 articles a month — giving non-subscribers complimentary access to our award-winning reporting, local news, opinion columns and more.
How article gifting works:
Subscribers will see a “Gift this article” button at the top of stories on KansasCity.com. This feature will soon also be available in our mobile apps.
Clicking the button expands a menu that allows you to choose how you wish to gift the article. You can copy the link, or open share tools to email, text or post on social media.
Anyone who clicks on the gift link gets free access to the article.
Subscribers can gift 10 articles a month. The countdown resets on the first day of the month.

How do I “gift” an article?
If you’re a subscriber, look for the “Gift this article” button on stories. Choose your preferred sharing method or copy your unique link, and share! Note you must be logged in to share.
Are there articles that cannot be shared?
All articles on the website are shareable by subscribers via the “Gift Article” link on article pages. This feature is not yet available on our mobile apps or Edition.
How do I receive a gifted article?
If a subscriber shares a gifted link with you, just click the link and you’ll have complimentary access to that story, no subscription required.
How many articles can subscribers gift?
Subscribers can gift up to 10 articles per month. The limit resets on the first of the month.
