Feud between Lee’s Summit neighbors allegedly leads to fight, stabbing
A Lee’s Summit man has been charged in connection with an assault on his neighbor that left the victim with at least two stab wounds.
Leon W. Dawson, 46, was charged Thursday with one count each of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
According to court records, after Dawson arrived home around 6 p.m. Wednesday, he and the neighbor got into an argument.
The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Southeast Talonia Drive in Lee’s Summit.
The victim allegedly pushed Dawson before Dawson reportedly struck the man in the midsection and upper torso with a small folding knife.
Court documents state the victim yelled to a neighbor, “You saw that ... he stabbed me.”
The victim suffered an 8- to 9-inch puncture wound in the left groin area and a 2-inch puncture wound under the left armpit.
Court records indicate Dawson and the neighbor had an ongoing feud. Dawson told police that the neighbor had threatened Dawson’s wife prior to the altercation.
Police used video from a surveillance camera inside Dawson’s home while investigating the incident.
Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 cash bond.
