Kansas City police have arrested 19 people following a two-day residential sweep that targeted drug and criminal operations in Clay and Platte counties.

The arrests made Wednesday and Thursday were connected to people suspected of property crimes, car thefts, stealing, fraud and forgery. Clay County sheriff’s deputies helped the Police Department’s drug enforcement unit make the arrests that cleared 71 municipal, state and federal warrants and enabled prosecutors to file 18 new criminal charges against those who were arrested, police said.

Authorities also recovered marijuana, methamphetamine, heroin and a number of firearms.

Prior to the operation, the Clay County prosecutor’s office reviewed more than 40 drug-related cases that involved people who were later targeted during the arrest sweep.

Authorities also conducted 40 residence checks of places identified as drug houses or connected to other criminal activity.
