Homicide victim found on bank of Missouri River in KCK identified
Police on Tuesday identified a man found dead on the bank of the Missouri River behind the Unified Government water treatment plant as 41-year-old Shannon R. Porter of Kansas City, Kan.
Porter’s body was found about 4 p.m. Saturday about 10 feet from the water behind the water treatment plant at 50 Market St.
It appeared that Porter had been stabbed multiple times. His body was found near a makeshift house. Police said he might have been living there. A clothesline hung nearby in the woods by the river.
The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s major case unit continues to investigate Porter’s death. It asks anyone with information about his death call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
