Man runs over woman during carjacking at Independence QuikTrip

A man stole a woman’s minivan as she pumped air into the front tire of her vehicle early Wednesday morning at a QuikTrip store in Independence.

The woman was attending to the passenger side tire of her van at the convenience store on the 17000 block of East 39th Street when a man approached her vehicle from the driver’s side. The man got into the vehicle and started to drive away.

The woman stood and grabbed at the passenger door, opening it as the man backed up. The man did not stop, and the woman was knocked to the ground and run over by the open car door as the man drove away.

Police continue to look for the carjacker, who is driving the black 2005 Chrysler Pacifica minivan. The Missouri plate number is KB0Z9K.
