Westwood man is charged with murder in Kansas City, Kan., shooting

A 25-year-old Westwood man was charged with murder Saturday in the shooting of a man in Kansas City, Kan.

Andrew M. Farish was arrested Friday afternoon in the case and charged Saturday with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the Wyandotte district attorney’s office announced.

About 4 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 2400 block of West 42nd Avenue in the Rosedale neighborhood and found 35-year-old Gerardo Jimenez inside a home, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. He was a Kansas City, Kan., resident.

Investigators from the Kansas City, Kan., major case police unit, Kansas City, Mo., and Westwood eventually identified Farish as a suspect and arrested him in Kansas City.

In 2008, Farish was prosecuted by the Wyandotte County prosecutor in a case in which he ultimately pleaded guilty to a felony robbery.

Farish was in custody in Kansas City, Mo., Saturday pending extradition to Wyandotte County. His bond was set for $1 million.
