Teen pedestrian struck by car in Kansas City, Kan., dies

One of the four teenagers who were struck by a vehicle Jan. 30 in Kansas City, Kan., died Friday afternoon, Wyandotte County Coroner Alan Hancock said.

Tierra Smith was with three other pedestrians who were struck in the 1300 block of Troup Avenue.

Tamika Pledger, an anti-crime activist and a candidate for the Unified Government board, has been charged with four counts of reckless aggravated battery for driving the Mercedes-Benz sedan that struck the teens as it crested a hill. Pledger could face additional charges.
