Kansas City man pleads guilty in murder of UMKC student

A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty to his role in a March 2013 home invasion that left a University of Missouri-Kansas City music student dead and three others wounded.

Anthony J. Williams of Kansas City will be sentenced on April 23 for convictions on one count each of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery, three counts of first-degree assault and five counts of armed criminal action.

His co-defendant, Alonzo D. Ruff, received a 30-year sentence in January for the murder of Aaron Markarian during the robbery. Markarian studied opera at UMKC’s Conservatory of Music and Dance.
