Lawrence police are looking for a driver who allegedly dragged and injured an officer during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.

The officer stopped a white Ford Fusion with Missouri license plates about 4:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of Rhode Island Street, according to police.

The driver of the Ford allegedly fled the traffic stop and dragged the officer with his vehicle as he drove away.

Police said the Ford bore the license plate SM6W3R. The driver was described as a “clean-cut” man wearing a blue suit, a white shirt, a red tie and aviator-style sunglasses.

The officer was taken to a hospital.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Lawrence Police Department at 785-832-7509.
