Northland man given life sentence plus 33 years in child sex case
A Kansas City, North man was sentenced Friday to life in prison plus 33 years for sex crimes involving children.
Joseph M. Braughton, 42, was convicted during a four-day trial in June of child molestation, statutory sodomy and attempted child molestation. Authorities said he molested four boys over a seven-year period. He assaulted at least two victims in his home.
Clay County Prosecutor Daniel White said Braughton would have to serve at least 27 years before becoming eligible for parole.
