Charges filed in fatal motorcycle wreck in Kansas City
A 37-year-old Kansas City woman has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal crash of a motorcyclist last fall.
Jackson County prosecutors allege that Tameca L. Long was driving under the influence of alcohol when her car collided with a motorcycle Oct. 24 at 41st Street and Prospect Avenue.
The motorcyclist, 56-year-old Lloyd H. McGee, died at a hospital.
According to documents filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, blood samples taken after the wreck found that both Long and McGee had blood alcohol levels more than twice the legal limit. Traffic investigators also determined that McGee’s motorcycle was traveling 49 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Investigators concluded that Long failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle as she made a left turn at the intersection, according to the documents.
