Shuttle van is stolen at KCI and recovered at downtown airport
A man who allegedly stole a transport van from one Kansas City airport Friday was arrested a short time later after driving the van to the city’s other airport.
Airport and Kansas City police were working to figure out why.
The Super Shuttle van was reported stolen late Friday morning at Kansas City International Airport. Its driver apparently had just left the parked vehicle before a man got in and drove away.
About an hour later, the van showed up at Wheeler Downtown Airport. Police took the man driving it into custody for questioning.
Before taking the van, the man may have taken another person’s suitcase from a luggage carousel. After arriving at Wheeler airport, the man may have attempted to get onto a private plane.
An official with Super Shuttle said the company will prosecute the man for the theft of the van.
