Suicidal man ‘thanks’ Kansas City police by spitting on officer

A man threatening to jump off of a Northeast area bridge Sunday afternoon expressed his gratitude to Kansas City police who talked him down in a not-so-pleasant way.

He spat on one of them.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. in the 6200 block of Wilson Road. Officers went there to check on a suicidal party on a bridge. The man, in his 40s, was acting erratically when officers showed up. Officers managed to convince him man to come down from the bridge, according to a police report.

The man spat in the face of one of the officers as he approached them. Police immediately arrested him. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital.
