Man faces charges after shot is fired into Independence house
A man who allegedly fired a shot into an Independence house occupied by a woman and two children is facing a federal gun charge.
Senecca T. Spencer, 40, is charged in U.S. District Court in Kansas City with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The incident stemmed from a Wednesday night domestic disturbance at a house in the 13700 block of East 41st Terrace South.
As Spencer was leaving, he fired a shot into the house, court documents allege. No one was hit.
He was driving nearby when Independence police stopped him and found a loaded 9 mm handgun in the car, according to court documents.
Spencer told police that he had accidentally fired the gun.
He has several prior felony convictions in Massachusetts, according to the documents, which makes it illegal for him to possess a gun.
