Man is arrested in assault of Kansas City animal control worker and bystander

Kansas City police arrested a man Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted an animal control officer and a bystander who tried to stop the attack.

The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of Park Avenue. After the assault, the man jumped into the bystander’s vehicle and sped away. Police searched the immediate area and located the vehicle on Park Avenue.

Officers then arrested the man in that area. They also took into custody a second person who allegedly interfered with the arrest and assaulted a police officer.
