Police name man killed in Kansas City traffic crash

Kansas City police on Thursday identified a man killed in a Wednesday night traffic crash as Vinod R. Shirley.

Shirley, 31, of Kansas City, was driving north on Prospect Avenue about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of his car at 42nd Street and struck a wooden utility pole, shearing the pole in half.

The Ford Fusion then struck a chain link fence and ended up against a house in the 2500 block of East 42nd Street.
