Two men are indicted in 2014 drug-related homicide in Kansas City
A federal grand jury indicted two Kansas City men Tuesday in connection with a 2014 drug-related homicide.
James P. Roberts, 24, and Marcell Shavers, 25, are charged in the Jan. 1, 2014, killing of 40-year-old Jose Medellin.
Medellin was fatally shot inside an apartment building in the 4000 block of Harvard Circle in Kansas City.
The indictment says Roberts and Shavers were involved in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy when Shavers, abetted by Roberts, fatally shot Medellin.
The charge of using a firearm to commit murder during a drug trafficking offense carries a potential death sentence.
