Olathe, Overland Park police plan DUI checkpoint, patrols
Olathe and Overland Park police will conduct special enforcement efforts Friday targeting drunken drivers.
Olathe police said they will have a DUI checkpoint from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location.
During the checkpoint, motorists will be stopped so police can look for signs of impairment. Drivers who are suspected of drunken driving will be arrests.
Police will also check for valid driver’s licenses during the special enforcement.
Meanwhile, Overland Park police will use saturation patrols from 9 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday to look for drunken drivers.
Police hope the special enforcement efforts will reduce alcohol-related crashes and discourage drunken driving.
