Second person pleads guilty in plot to bomb Fort Riley
A 30-year-old Topeka man involved in the conspiracy to set off a bomb at Fort Riley, Kan., pleaded guilty Monday in federal court.
Alexander E. Blair admitted that he shared some of the political views of John T. Booker Jr. and was aware of his plans to detonate a bomb at the U.S. Army post near Junction City.
Blair also gave Booker money to rent a storage locker that he used to store bomb components, according to the terms of Monday’s plea agreement in U.S. District Court in Topeka.
“Despite being convinced that Booker was serious about carrying out the plot, Blair chose not to report what he knew to the authorities,” federal prosecutors said Monday in a written statement.
Booker, 21, was arrested in April 2015 as he prepared to drive onto the Army post with what he thought was an operative explosive. It was actually a fake weapon that had been constructed with components provided by undercover federal agents.
He previously pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
Sentencing for Blair is scheduled for Aug. 23. He faces up to five years in federal prison.
