Preliminary hearing set for three murder defendants in She’s A Pistol robbery
A Johnson County judge on Thursday set an April 20 preliminary hearing for three of the four men charged in the Jan. 9 killing of a Shawnee gun store owner.
The fourth suspect remains hospitalized from wounds suffered during the attempted robbery at She’s A Pistol that killed Jon Bieker, 44.
Becky Bieker, who was punched and injured during the robbery that left her husband dead, attended Thursday’s court hearing. She left the Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe without commenting.
Hakeem Malik, 18, Nicquan Midgyett, 19, and Londro Patterson III, 20, are charged with felony first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jon Bieker.
Midgyett and Patterson were also injured in the robbery. Patterson was in a wheelchair when he was brought into the courtroom Thursday.
Deanthony Wiley, 19, also has been charged but remains hospitalized from gunshot injuries. His court-appointed lawyer, Angela Keck, asked District Judge Timothy McCarthy on Thursday to order the Johnson County sheriff’s office to let her meet with her client, which she so far has been unable to do.
She also requested an April 20 court date for Wiley, but did not ask that a preliminary hearing be set.
